Ever wanted to donate? Now you can!
As we mentioned in our last post, we said that we would be following it up with a further announcement. Since our first launch in May 2012, QueUp has always been a side project backed personally by the people behind it. We change this today as we announce that we have incorporated as QueUp LLC!
While this may not seem like big news to some, not existing as a corporate entity was one of the hurdles that prevented us from being able to accept donations. Now that we are a company, we are also excited to announce that you can now support us with donations.
Our goals with revenue
We want to make sure that for the long-term, we’re sustainable. What we mean by this is that, in an ideal world, we want the platform to sustain itself financially. You can check out how much it costs to run QueUp each month by visiting our financial report.
Suppose there’s ever a point where we have extra money after paying the bills. In that case, this will help fund future feature development and other expenses, such as advertising. As we have done since January 2021, we will continue to post our monthly expenditures so you know how we spend money.
As we are still in the process of finalizing certain aspects of becoming a company, like opening a business bank account, there are some fees that we need to pay. Donations that we receive will help contribute towards these costs, which ultimately allow us to accept donations in the first place.
What do you get in exchange for donating
Right now, due to technical limitations, we aren’t able to offer any perks in the current version of QueUp. Your donations will help keep the lights on. The end goal will be to supersede donations with a subscription model where users will get special perks. However, this is far from this being reality.
In the new version of QueUp, we plan to give a permanent site-wide cosmetic to users who donate to us. The cosmetic will only be available to users who contribute to us before we switch to a subscription model. We will give a heads-up before the changeover does happen.
How can I donate?
If you’re feeling generous, you can visit https://www.queup.net/donate and set up a monthly donation or make a one-time donation. Please remember that donations aren’t required, but any amount you can spare will help us immeasurably. We’d really appreciate your support.
