Temporarily Disabling SoundCloud Search
Since October (when we came back online), the ability to search and import SoundCloud songs has been broken. When users have questioned why it’s not working, we have briefly explained the reason, but we haven’t properly acknowledged the issue. This post will clarify what is going on, and what our plans are.
Why is it broken?
In July 2021, SoundCloud announced that they were making changes to their API and how applications authenticate with it and in September, these changes went live. The method in which QueUp interacted with SoundCloud’s API is no longer supported and this is the reason why search and importing of SoundCloud songs has stopped working.
Regrettably, we just haven’t had the time to make the necessary changes yet.
Will it get fixed?
Our plan is to update QueUp so it supports SoundCloud’s change; however, in order to achieve this, it requires significant code changes on our side. Unfortunately finding time to make big changes such as this is a challenge, but we hope it won’t take too long.
